On 3-5 June, Aalok Sharma, our Group Head of Training, joined the Wärtsilä Simulation User Conference held in Singapore where he spoke on decarbonisation and digitalisation – twin themes of the event and two pillars shaping the future of the maritime industry.
Bringing together a vibrant community of maritime professionals and industry stakeholders, the conference featured sharings on the latest advancements in simulations and training related to renewable fuels and their applications in the maritime industry.
In the session “Decarbonisation: Getting the crew ready”, Aalok offered a ship manager’s perspective on the challenges and opportunities of this critical transition. He highlighted our approach at Anglo-Eastern, including scalable, onboard-ready training tools, innovative thinking in training engagement, and collaborations across the industry.
In a further session “Transition to digital voyage and passage planning”, Aalok emphasised the balance between embracing technology and preserving the fundamentals of safe navigation. He stressed the importance of ensuring digital tools are safe, effective, simple and intuitive for crews at sea – making technology an enabler rather than a barrier.
At Anglo-Eastern, we believe in going beyond compliance – prioritising safety, driving innovation, and investing in the professional growth of our people at sea and ashore. As always, we are committed to contributing to meaningful conversations that shape a better maritime future.
