
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This role also plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of data technologies such as AI and chat services and will contribute to future data-driven initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Technical Lead, your responsibilities will include:
- Data Engineering: Designing, developing, optimizing and maintaining data pipelines, data integration processes, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows.
- Data Infrastructure Management: Ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of data infrastructure, including databases, data lakes, and cloud-based platforms.
- Data Governance and Privacy/Security: Establishing and enforcing data governance policies, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, and implementing security measures to protect sensitive data.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with cross-functional teams, such as software developers, data analysts, and stakeholders from various departments, to understand data requirements, support their data needs, and collaborate on data-related projects.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Assisting in data analysis tasks and creating reports or dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Research and Innovation: Staying up to date with the latest data engineering technologies, tools, and best practices. Evaluating new technologies and assessing their potential for improving data processes and infrastructure.
Who You'll Work With
- The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the company’s data services run smoothly and effectively.
- This includes managing and optimizing our data assets and infrastructure, as well as maintaining the privacy and security of our data. Work closely with the software development team and BI manager to develop and improve our data storage, processing, and cleansing capabilities.
- The Senior Data Engineer collaborates with business stakeholders, product leads, IT security, and the IT infrastructure team to align data services with the overall data strategy of Anglo-Eastern.
Required Qualifications
- University graduate or master’s degree in computer science/data science.
- Practical expertise in data engineering techniques.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy.
- Knowledge of data technologies and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with publicly accessible and widely available data sources.
- Ability to test and implement proof-of-concept (POC) projects using new technologies.
- Knowledge in Ship’s IT systems data, Operational Technology (OT) onboard the ships.
