Navigating the future: Why maritime careers matter more than ever (September 2025 issue)

As we move through 2025, we continue to reflect on what it means to lead with purpose and integrity in a complex and ever-evolving maritime landscape and more challenging geo-political environment.

June saw us honour the Day of the Seafarer with a series of activities both onboard and ashore. We paid tribute to the dedication and resilience of our seafarers – the often-unsung heroes who keep global trade moving.

In July, we held our first official Anglo-Eastern Safety Day, bringing together both sea and shore-based colleagues from across the globe. It was a day of meaningful dialogue and reflection, and a powerful reminder that safety is not merely a metric to be measured, but a value to be lived and breathed by all of us at Anglo-Eastern as we continue working towards closing the gap between ‘Work as Imagined’ and ‘Work as Done’.

We also released our ESG Report 2024, reaffirming our commitment to transparency, sustainability, and responsible stewardship. The report outlines our progress and priorities across environmental, social, and governance dimensions, and reflects the values that guide our operations.

This issue of LeaderShip features a special piece on maritime careers, reiterating our commitment to nurturing seafaring talent. As the industry evolves, so too must our approach to attracting, developing, and retaining the next generation of maritime professionals. Investing in people remains central to our long-term success, and this piece reiterates the actions we are taking to ensure this.

We also spotlight our Global Security Desk (GSD), which offers a platform to drive safe operation of our managed fleet and safeguards client assets across major shipping corridors by enhancing our ability to monitor risks and maximise preparedness.
