Foresights | Inspection ready, every day?

What if the real value of vetting was not simply passing the next inspection, but protecting vessel tradability and preventing the next finding?

As inspection requirements broaden, readiness can no longer begin when an inspector is booked. For shipowners, inspection performance can influence vessel eligibility and charterer consideration, as well as the disruption and cost associated with an earlier reinspection.

Anglo-Eastern’s latest Foresights explores how a centralised Vetting Desk is changing that equation: connecting vessel preparation, root-cause analysis and fleet-wide inspection intelligence so that lessons from one vessel can help another act earlier.

The approach is already producing measurable results. Between January and September 2026, Anglo-Eastern completed 164 inspections across its managed dry fleet, with more than 88% achieving full 12-month validity. The fleet averaged 11.5 findings per inspection, compared with a stated RightShip global average of 17.3.

The paper explores:

  • why inspection readiness is becoming a continuous discipline;
  • how centralising inspection intelligence can strengthen fleet-wide learning;
  • why root-cause analysis and the quality of the close-out matter; and
  • how learnings can help protect tradability and reduce disruption.
