AEMA alumni continue a legacy of excellence

Outstanding results by AEMA alumni in the 2025 Certificate of Competency (CoC) examinations reinforce the Academy’s enduring legacy of academic excellence, professional competence, and maritime leadership.

Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) is proud to celebrate another outstanding achievement in its tradition of developing high-performing maritime professionals.

Ms Gargi Jayadeep Nair and Mr Mohammed Tabish Mirza, both from DNS 23 batch, achieved the highest marks in the female and male categories respectively in the 2025 Second Mate (Foreign Going) CoC examination. The awards were presented by India’s NMDC (National Maritime Day Celebrations) Committee in recognition of their outstanding performance.

Currently serving as Third Officer onboard MV Ellington, an Anglo-Eastern managed vessel, Tabish credited AEMA’s training, mentorship and learning environment as key contributors to his success, expressing his gratitude to both the Academy and Anglo-Eastern for supporting his professional journey.

These accomplishments build on AEMA’s strong track record of success in CoC examinations. Recent years have seen a succession of top-performing alumni, including Sandra Varghese (Second Mate CoC Topper, 2023), Umang Raj (Second Mate CoC Topper, 2024) and Sameer Jotwani (Chief Mate CoC Topper, 2024). The achievements of Gargi and Tabish further reinforce AEMA’s sustained record of excellence in professional competency examinations.

Behind every success story is a combination of dedication, discipline and expert guidance. These results reflect not only the commitment of the alumni themselves, but also the unwavering support of AEMA’s faculty and trainers, whose efforts continue to shape the next generation of maritime professionals.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Gargi and Tabish on their remarkable achievements and wish them continued success in their maritime careers. Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to present and future cadets and reaffirm AEMA’s commitment to developing officers who excel both in examinations and at sea.
